Chapter Seven

“Jesus, that was intense,” Bo murmured later. Garret showed him the same tender affections by helping him back on the bed, and cleaning both of them up.

The werewolf slid beside him later and Bo found himself curling into the huge shifter’s massive arms. Bo didn’t know cuddling against a person like this could feel so warm. Garret tucked his head against his shoulder, stroking his sweat-soaked hair. Bo felt his fingers linger on the side of his neck.

“Do it. Make me your mate,” Bo said.

He didn’t know how reckless he was being, but all his life he’d gone slow and careful. Evaluating every decision he made based on pros and cons, and for once in Bo’s life he knew he didn’t need a list. Making lists didn’t save him from picking a mistake like Royce.

With Garret, there was no conflict. Bo simply knew, with frightening certainty that this man, this werewolf was his. Funny how the thought of binding himself to a stranger he hardly knew about would have scared him shitless long ago. Hell, Bo wasn’t the kind of guy who believed in romance, but here he was, doing something so unexplainable, unconventional, and unlike him. Excitement crawled down his spine. Every inch of his skin tingled with electricity.

“This isn’t a decision you can make lightly,” Garret warned. The werewolf didn’t stop stroking his neck though. Instead, his thumb kept on circling that spot.

“My answer remains the same. I’m sure,” Bo confirmed.

Garret didn’t ask twice. “Wait here. I need to get the first aid kit.”

Bo’s eyes widened. “Is it going to hurt?”

“At the start, but I want the kit so I could tend to the bleeding after.”

Bo scooted over so Garret could retrieve the box from his bathroom.

“Never imagined doing this again,” Garret said, sliding back into bed.

“Do you miss him? Your former mate?” Bo asked. Garret tucked him close to him again and he loved how effortless the movement seemed. Natural almost.

“Some days,” Garret admitted. “But you collapsing on my doorstep might be sign its time I let go of his ghost. Let the past stay dead and buried.”

Bo leaned his head against Garret’s broad chest, and began tracing lazy spherical circles on his right pectoral. Garret’s words reverberated in him, because in a way, he was letting go of Royce. Trying to forget Royce was difficult though, because despite how Royce turned out, they made some good memories together—or were those a lie too?

“When I make you mine, I want you to only think of me,” Garret’s voice tickled beside his ear, authoritative and possessive. “That clear?”

“Very. Don’t worry. You’re very distracting.” Bo traced one finger down Garret’s ribs and abs. “I love these second to your cock.”

“You could be damn crass too, little human,” Garret rumbled. “Ready?”

In answer, Bo bared his neck to him. Accepting his gift, Garret put his mouth to the spot. He didn’t go for the bite immediately. The ritual felt uncomfortably intimate. The way Garret took his time licking and nipping the spot, felt like a kind of foreplay.
